The Dutch East-India Company influenced Dutch history tremendously.

We meet at a restaurant with amazing views over the water, where you will feel right at home. They serve pure, quality food, delicious and eco-friendly. The place to enjoy our early morning coffee, home made cakes and to meet our new friends for the day.

Our storytelling guide takes you on an exiting trip back in time to the 17th century. At the time the Dutch East-India Company developed into a powerful trading and transport company. They owned shipyards and warehouses all over Amsterdam. Centre of the Dutch East-India Company in Asia was the Javanese city of Batavia (Jakarta). This first multinational tremendously influenced history in the way of clothing, architecture, science, and last but not least nutrition. Most spices like salt, pepper, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon came from the islands of the Indonesian archipelago. The famous Dutch “rijsttafel” originates from that time. The ingredients and recipes were native, but in the course of centuries Dutch merchants exerted their influence. “Fusion cooking avant la lettre”!

After this we embark on a private small boat to sail to the diner venue over Amsterdam’s canal ring, which is recognized as UNESCO world heritage. Our local host is proud to receive you in his special venue and spoil you with a delicious meal.

This tour offers plenty of photo opportunities, so bring your camera.

Are you ready to travel back in history and to learn about Dutch East-India Company secrets?
